FREE! One of my favorite words! I received an awesome Camelbak tumbler from a friend of mine who got it at a conference they went to. It had the name of a business on it and I didn't feel like scraping or soaking it off. My daughter also needed a new tumbler for dance class so I knew it was a great Cricut project.
I love creating with my Cricut and this latest project had me wanting to do something I've seen in a lot of places; the puffy shadow behind a name. There are fonts for it but I don't like how tight they are so I decided to create something on my own.
1.) The first thing I did was go to Word and type my daughters name in the font I wanted, I chose Curlz font.
2.) Highlight your word and in the home tab (I use Word for Mac) click on the text effects icon. Select glow and then select what glow size you want, I wanted the largest one.
3.) Once you have that step completed take a screen shot of your Word doc, for more precision use command + shift + 4. That will bring up the little bulls eye and by using your mouse or trackpad you can just screen shot a specific spot on your page.
4.) Go to Cricut Design Space and upload your screen shot. Clear out the white background. Now don't panic, you're only going to be left with your puffy background, your text will not show up. That's fine.
5.) Start a new project in DS and open your puffy background. Make sure to go to the layers panel and select cut on the puffy background.
6.) Now using the same font you choose for the puffy background type the word you typed in Word. Size it to fit.
7.) Cut each piece separately. Weed your name or whatever word you chose and layer it on top of your puffy background, then move them together and place on your object. I just covered the printed company name.
It sounds like a lot but once you do it it is super fast the next time. Thanks for reading hope you enjoyed the tutorial!
